I saw a good hour and a half of Seven Samurai, til i realized it was a 4 hour movie. Can I just watch one of those 90 minute remakes with Wire-fu?I'm Steyer. I fuck things up.
Depends on your plan. Mine's $17 a month, and i get unlimited rentals, 3 DVDs at a time, and unlimited online movies, of which there are many.I'm Steyer. I fuck things up.
There are some classics that you should see at least once in your life -- and yes, some are in black and white and lack computerized special effects. (Can you tell i studied film & media in college?)
Maltese Falcon Key Largo Gaslight -- the really old version is a classic-- Angela Landsbury of Murder-she-wrote fame has her first speaking part (she plays a maid)
Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (yes, I'm a big Katharine Hepburn fan -- so anything else she's been in is worth watching but I know better than to list most of her films)
the Sure Thing - John Cusack's first major role at age 17. Apollo 13 Constantine Chasing Amy (a kevin smith film) anything by M. Night Shamalyn --however you spell his last name - his first film "Wide Awake" is safe for your sister to watch with you
Crash
TV series; Babylon 5 Moonlighting (gotta love Maddy & David) Remington Steele -- so ooooo Early 80s My husband likes The NIght Stalker (the original) and Threshold (which is sooo bad)
i tried to keep the list free of chick-flicks as much as I could =)
That's nice of you, Neva. The one type of movie i absolutely cannot do is romantic comedy. Anyway...How do you go from the classic stuff to Constantine? Assuming the Constantine you're referring to is the one with Keanu Reeves? =PI'm Steyer. I fuck things up.
lol - i have a wide range of taste with movies. "The Sure Thing" is a romantic comedy - but it's JOHN CUSACK!!! Yes, i do mean the Keanu Reeves Constantine. I'm not sure why exactly but I do like most keanu movies - probably because he plays the same character in all of them and he's not hard on the eyes. I know, not exactly what you want to hear.
My suggestion is anything in the older Arnold line-up (I Like the Governator). Commando, Predator, Running Man, Conan, Red Sonja, etc, etc. I HATE SEX AND THE CITY. I copied every one of those damn discs from season one to whatever it ended at.The Man, The Myth, The Crappy Uber Hunter
All the Buttman movies, Taboo, and Deepthroat. Anything with Chasey Lain, and Wendy Whoopers.
Other than that, Clerks, Clerks 2, or any movies by these guys other than Chasing Amy. Pans Labyrinth Death Hunt <-----Charles Bronson, Lee Marvin, Andrew Stevens One of my fav's. Other than the movies made in the late 30's, early 40's.. All John Wayne movies. Shawshank Redemption
Actually, here are a few of my quirky favorites from different generas - romantic comedies included... mwhwhahhahahhahaaa.
- Little Voice - Requiem for a Dream - Saun of the Dead - The Science of Sleep - Amelie - french w/subs - Millions - Momento - Run Lola Run - What Dreams May Come - Muriel's Wedding - i <3 toni collette's early movies - Cosi - i <3 toni collette's early movies
Enough for now... enjoy.
FYI - Noni, I put a few of these down for you and Mike too. I'm certain you'd both like a lot of these, starting with Little Voice.zE' no
Well, i love Conan as much as the next guy. Completely forgot about The Governator's stuff. I've also seen Shawshank Redemption at least 30 times, but it's still awesome. I added Requiem for a Dream yesterday. Everybody's been telling me it's good, but i just never seemed interested. Memento, Run Lola Run, and Shaun of the Dead are all awesome too. Netflix suggests that french movie to me left and right, but the chick on the cover looks scary.I'm Steyer. I fuck things up.
I forgot to put my favorite Mamet film in there: The Spanish Prisoner. It's wonderful in so many ways, and not as brutal as Glengarry Glen Ross. Not a fan of Requiem for a Dream (too preachy) and thought Run Lola Run was just ok, but I loved Memento and Shaun of the Dead. Xyno, I need to check out The Science of Sleep; I love love loved Eternal Sunshine.
How about Mulholland Drive? IMO it's one of the best films ever made, and it's not the usual weird-for-weird's sake stuff that Lynch usually does. I also like his Blue Velvet, even though it's completely over the top, and I think his Dune is great.
Another oldie but goodie, if you haven't seen it: Amadeus.I like trees.
Eh, i'm not a big fan of vulgar, but i'll give it a looksee. And Nate, I added Toxic Avenger to my list. Looks so hilariously bad. Apparently parts of it were filmed within a 10 minute drive from my house.I'm Steyer. I fuck things up.
-=- Hot Rod (Laughed my ass off) -=- Balls of Fury (Name speaks for itself) -=- Magicians (Odd... but good) -=- Man of the Year (I forget a lot about this movie... but I liked it) -=- Stardust (shweet movie) -=- Evan Almighty (thought it was gonna suck..) -=- I Am Legend (not as good as the story) -=- Fievel Goes West ( oh yes.. its the Fievel) -=- Thank You For Smoking (oh yes... lobbyists FTW)
And I watched Fido and you are a very fucked up individual... but apparently so am I.
